WU: 5RFT: 5 pull ups, 5 air squats, 5 push ups, 5 AMSU'S, 5 DLs@135,155,185,205,215 TT=9'02" Strength: DL 5x3@305,315,325,335,350 TT=8'09" Conditioning: 3RFT: 15 box jumps, 12 TTB, 9 DLs@245#, 12 box jumps, 9 TTB, 6 DLs@245# (16' time cap) TT=16' I had 30 reps left to finish in the third round Notes: Well boys and girls, summer is officially here. 92° with 90% humidity. Completely soaked after the WU. Nothing too crazy, but that metcon SUCKED! Hardest thing I have done in a long time. I knew that I was going to time cap during the first round. Off to the seafood place for some fresh catfish fillets. Fried catfish tonight! Yum!

I'm conveniently taking the day off though. Nah, I haven't slept well in 4 or 5 nights and have been arguing with the wife so screw it... Hopefully stuff calms down soon. Enjoy the catfish!

Well, IDK how long ya'll have been married, but the toughest years for us were years 7 & 8 1/2. Things were tough, but I just ate a lot of humble pie and used a "back door" approach to try and make my points. Hope that things get better. As for the exercise, it was a lot of DLs.

It's funny you mention that. We will have been married 8 years in August. I think most of it is just being run down and stressed out. Working this many hours is not the best thing for someone like me, who is pretty intent on getting everything done. I then proceed to work all weekend on stuff at the house and never get any quality time with my family. Our daughter isn't in school yet either so my wife is fried from staying home with her all day and not having any family around to help. It's just a recipe for disaster. I hear you on the backdoor approach. Unfortunately, I just don't tolerate BS very well and when I'm this burned out tend to go ballistic pretty quickly. Vacation is 1 week away though and that should help out tremendously.

Vacation is 1 week away though and that should help out tremendously. I had the same issues. In fact, I think it is fairly common with men to get "tunnel vision" about stuff that needs "to get done." The problem that I had wasn't in trying to get it all done, it was the way that I prioritized things. For me, I had my workouts equal to if not above my wife and kids and if I didn't get to workout, I would be surly. This past soccer season, I took the advice of a Samoan friend who reminded me that in Samoan culture, family is always first, then community, then self. We're not Samoan, but I realized that in the big picture, me getting what I want should be the least important thing. I'm not saying that your priorities are out of order because I only know you through the internet. What I am saying is that this season, when my started asking me if I had worked out and I told her, "Nah, I didn't have time. There are more important things to do." Her attitude shifted and there were few issues concerning time. I also felt less pressure because I wasn't focused on getting what I wanted.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like if I went that route I would stop training. That's the reason I stick to it so religiously. Plus, I don't spend more than about 4-5 hours a week on it and think that just about anyone in a (somewhat) normal life in our society should be able to devote that much time to exercise. Also, that is literally the only thing that I prioritize in my personal life. Other than that I'm lucky to get anything done... I hear what you're saying and think that is great advice from your friend. You also have 3 kids and I have 1. If I had 3 kids I would probably not workout as much as I prefer to. We probably have very different circumstances in our lives, but I absolutely hear what you're saying and appreciate it.

No worries. You're a smart guy who seems to have his heart and priorities in order. Maybe one day, instead of working out, go up to the wife and say, "Let's all go get some ice cream." Rewards for you after that baby!

Rewards for you after that baby! Thanks man. There are a lot more reasons and circumstances that I didn't mention, but I'd say the training level is justifiable at this point. Just had to throw the "I-word" out there during my diet. Thanks... I almost caved in yesterday and ate some. Still going strong and haven't eaten dessert in about 3 weeks.
