I hate that my gym only haas one actual Bench press barbell. I always end up having to use a squat barbell, with the gripping in the middle of the bar. It also bends more which i dislike. do you guys notice the diffrence or is it all in my head?

It also bends more which i dislike. do you guys notice the diffrence or is it all in my head? Man, I only own two barbells. One is standard (Olympic) length and one is about a foot shorter. I'm sure neither of them are legit and was really surprised to see the Oly bar stand up to 400+ lbs on Deadlift. It's probably only rated to 500 lbs. I only use the shorter one for "un-racked" exercises (excluding snatches because of the wide grip). That means at any give time, I can only do one racked exercise in a metcon. I'd like to get a new barbell form Rogue but just can't spend the money on it right now. As for your predicament, I'm surprised that your gym only has one bar with knurling for bench. You should say something to them and they would probably buy another one. How many benches do they have? Each one should have a bar with the knurling for bench. I don't know much about flex. I think Jaysun actually knows more about this topic. He actually bent one of his bars I think. You could be like a pool hustler and carry your own nice a$$ oly bar in a wooden, felt-lined case into the gym. Ha ha ha...

I do and have noticed. When I worked out at a gym, they had all kinds of bars. I got turned on to the Texas Power Bar and wished I had one now but can't afford the $300 for it. It is used exclusively for bench and OHP. Awesome if you can afford it. I have a Cap brand here at the house and yes, it is bent from heavy squat work back when I could squat heavy. It bent under multiple loads of 385+ for reps and 405 for partials. When I use it now, I have to make sure it is in the right spot, especially when I am doing any variation of the OLY lifts. I used to have a review of the TPB somewhere.

Can't find any one thread on it though.
