One hour of raking pine straw and one hour of splitting wood with a 12# maul. George Foreman always said that chopping wood was the best exercise to develop upper body strength. IDK, but it wore my a$$ out.

Surfed for about 2.5 hours.
Comments: We took an impromptu trip to Carolina Beach, NC since the forecast was in the 70's yesterday. I surfed for 2.5 hours (combined between two sessions) in pretty consistent waist to chest high surf. The first session was longer, about 1.5 hours. The water was glassy with a slight side/offshore wind that produced a small drift. The waves were fairly hard to get into. I did a lot more paddling to fight the drift than I did paddling into waves and back out. The second session was only an hour. I only caught 3 waves as conditions had deteriorated. The wind shifted more sideshore and picked up a bit, mixing things up and adding some surface chop. Also, it had clouded up by that time and a layer of dense fog was settling in. I am near-sighted (meaning I can't see clearly far away without glasses) so the sky and the sea more or less blended together and made it very hard for me to get into the right place to catch waves that were already hard to get into. I only caught 3 waves that session. The last one though, as luck would have it, was my best wave of the day. Caught a nice right, front side and rode it almost all the way to the beach. I was riding my longboard for both sessions.
My plan is to return to training tomorrow. I've had some pretty bad knee pain again. That was probably from carrying all of our luggage, etc. up and down the 3 flights of steps to the condo. Still, I'm planning to do some squats and maybe deadlifts. Hope you all have a great night!
