It was a rest day from training. Did some manual labor at work. The back feels better than it did right after I injured it, but still very far from being able to do squats or deads. Those may get skipped next week. Might try to do some bench/pull-ups on Saturday and maybe a run. Our treadmill arrives on Monday too so I should be able to get some running in a little more often after that (assuming we put it together and it actually works). Hope you had a good day!

Rest day here too. I dressed out and started warming up, then decided to finish cleaning the pool and kill some ants. Been kind of melancholy lately. It's my birthday weekend so, as I usually do, I'm off work tomorrow and will go for a long(ish) run. I'll be 46YO which means that I am officially closer to 50 than 40! Yikes! Still, according to Beyond the Whiteboard, I'm a fitness level 65 (Grizzly status) which means that I am fitter than 65% of all the people who use the app. Glad your back is feeling better.

Wow, and here I was b!tching about getting close to 40. Yeah, I've had sort've a mid life crisis here recently too. Mainly looking around and going. "is this where I want to be? Is this the job that I want to be doing? etc." All of a sudden it became clear that I'm getting older and time was of the essence. My dad passing away at 62 is what really prompted me to think that way. All of a sudden retirement was not guaranteed and so I may want to make my way back to the coast well before then. I drove myself crazy with thoughts like that and then ended up finding peace in a few thoughts/principles. 1. The "secret" to happiness is learning to be content and happy in any circumstance. So I have to be thankful for what I have, and truthfully, as much as I complain about stuff, I have so much more than I deserve and I'm grateful for it. I remember 10 years ago, coming home from working my part time cooking job, no wife, no kids, no direction in life, having no clue how to pay the bills... Then, out of thin air, God blesses me with my wife. Fast forward 10 years and we have a small family and are doing quite well for ourselves. 2. Set reasonable/logical/obtainable goals and work toward them. If I want to move back to the coast, get a plan together and start working toward it. If I want to do something else for a living, get a plan together and start working toward it, etc. OK, that's about it. Those two things really helped me out. Every time I started to get discontent I instead thought of what I had to be thankful for in that situation. Hopefully you don't mind me sharing that stuff. For all I know you're well past me on all of this stuff and going through something completely different, but maybe this helps you in some way. For starters, you seem to be in great health. And I think your app is full of it. The way I define "fitness level" is strength, conditioning, work capacity, mobility, etc. And to me, you're probably in the top 10 percentile of everyone on Earth. You also seem to have a great family, friends, a job you enjoy, etc. To me it sounds like you're blessed to be doing so well. Anyway, happy early birthday man.
