I'm about to change my program up slightly to give myself something to work toward. For example, Powerlifters have meets to work toward. Endurance athletes have races to work toward, crossfitters have metcons to work toward, etc. So what does a hybrid athlete have to work toward? (d) All of the Above I'm going to add one week on to my cycles, on the end, and that will be the "Competition Week." So for four weeks, beginning with a Deload Week, I'm going to work toward that Competition Week. In the Competition Week, I will attempt to set new 1RMs for each of the primary lifts, my pull exercise for the cycle (which I'm adding back in) and any assistance exercises that I want to max out on. In addition to that, I'm going to do one metcon "for competition," and also one endurance race. Here is what I plan to do this month: Squat Max Deadlift Max Bench Max OH Press Max Weighted Pull-up Max Split Jerk Max "The 1920's" (Metcon) Run a 5K I think this adds a cool component to all of this that may have been missing. So what are your thoughts?

The following week will be a week off or a Deload Week.

I think it is cool. Are you sticking with the 5/3/1?

What are the cycles going to look like? Will you only "practice" the 1920's metcon, or will you program it once a week and do other metcons? I would like to see your template.

The metcon is more for fun than anything. I won't practice that metcon, per se, but will do metcons every week. Same deal with the 5K. I'll do Sprints and a distance run each week, and at the end I'll do the 5K. Here is my (rough) template: For Weeks 2-4, I'll be training the Powerlifts at my current rep/weight schemes (business as usual there). The weight will increase each week, etc. My metcons will be one "medium" and one "short" metcon per week and then the long one will be in the competition week. The metcons will change each week as usual. I suppose you could practice the actual metcon and the actual endurance race each week. I'm not planning to do so as I like to keep it mixed up, but I think you get the idea. That is my plan of attack for this. Maybe this ties in the Monthly Challenge into it. Like we could post a Monthly Challenge and instead of the way it has been, it could be similar to what I'm discussing in this thread. It would be the "Big 3" powerlifting lifts, OH Press, a rotating Pull Exercise, a rotating Metcon and a rotating Endurance Race.

Looks good. I would be in if I weren't getting ready to travel.
