I need a better way to do shrugs. I cannot stand doing them with dbs and the smith machine is at a angle. Also i only do a set of 4x10 is taht enough?

I have not done shrugs in a while and when I did it was with DB's. I don't know how big your gym is but, the "trap-bar" may be an option. It is used to train deadlifts and is a weird looking piece of equipment. Google it.

If they have safeties for that power rack in your profile picture, I'd put them in just above knee high and just do shrugs with the barbell. You could also do sort've like a rack pull shrug. There are a variety of movements like this that Olympic lifters use. Snatch Pulls, Clean Pulls, etc. They all incorporate a shrug and are more functional than just doing shrugs. I plug these in as assistance exercises on Deadlift day. There are literally dozens of variations of these that you could do. That website that I linked (Catalyst Athletics) is the best out there for learning and programming Olympic lifts.
