Conditioning: Distance Run
5K, 24:57, 8:02 Pace, 429 Calories
Comments: Originally I had planned to do 5 miles this morning, but I've had some pretty terrible knee pain for the last two days in my right knee. I think it was the box jumps/jumping rope in that metcon on Thursday. Also, I woke up with some hip flexor pain in my right hip. That is probably from over compensating for my knee. On top of all of that, I haven't eaten in almost 24 hours (skipped dinner last night) so I was literally running on empty. Surprisingly, I felt pretty good on that run. The knee and hip pain went away after about a half mile and I felt really light, if that makes any sense. My strides were much smaller than usual to try to accomodate the hip flexor, but nonetheless, I finished only 10 seconds slower than last week. I'll take it. May have to switch things around this coming week due to the knee pain. Earlier, I tried to do an air squat and it hurt like crazy. I may switch it up and do some straight leg deadlifts tomorrow. Then wait until later in the week to try squats. Maybe it will be feeling better by then.
In other exciting news, this should be the last hot day of the year for us. It is supposed to be 90 degrees today and then highs will be in the mid seventies for a while. Thank God! Also, I managed to make it through the entire summer, working out in my garage and running outside and never once turned on the box fan. Gotta love a little extra torture. Ha ha... Have a good day!
